The Science and Spirit of Essential Oils: A Daily Gift (Part 2)
Posted by Jason Hastie on 4th Feb 2025
Last month, we explored the foundational role of essential oils in supporting cellular health through the PMS Trifecta:
✅ Phenylpropanoids – Cleansing receptor sites for better cellular communication
✅ Monoterpenes – Reprogramming cellular information for optimal function
✅ Sesquiterpenes – Delivering oxygen and enhancing cellular memory
But not all essential oils contain these compounds in the same proportions. This month, we take a closer look at which oils are richest in each of these categories—so you can make informed choices when selecting oils to enhance your wellness routine, as well as examining the use of these oils in the Bible.
A Biblical History of Essential Oils
✅ Moses’ Anointing Oil (Exodus 30:22-25) – A sacred blend of frankincense, cedarwood, and myrrh used to consecrate priests and holy objects.
✅ Aaron’s Essential Oil Diffuser (Numbers 16:46-48) – When a plague broke out, Aaron ran into the crowd with a censer of burning incense (the original oil diffuser!)—and the plague stopped instantly!
✅ Yeshua & the Disciples (Mark 6:13) – When Jesus sent His disciples to anoint and heal, they used more than just a drop or two of olive oil; the disciples would have been well schooled in administering Essential Oils!
✅ Mary & Baby Yeshua – When the Wise Men brought frankincense and myrrh, Mary likely smothered her child from head to toe in this oil for its soothing, protective properties.
Ancient people understood the power of these God-given molecules—and so should we!
For centuries, essential oils have been more than just fragrance—they were the original pharmaceuticals of the ancient world.
From Moses’ anointing oil to the frankincense gifted to Jesus, biblical people doused themselves in essential oils whenever possible.

Now, for those who want the most out of a PMS Blend, here is my personal favorite!
I call this "Second Exodus"
✅ P (Phenylpropanoids): Clove Bud (0.5%) – 4 drops per ounce (Clove Bud is powerful—never go over 0.5%)
✅ M (Monoterpenes): Frankincense (Boswellia serrata) (1.5%) – 14 drops per ounce
✅ S (Sesquiterpenes): Cedarwood (Virginia) (1.5%) – 14 drops per ounce
➡ Total: 4% dilution (32 drops per ounce) 4% is plenty, more is not better when it comes to oils, you CAN overdo it.
